Townships, described as followsBeginning at New Hope Church near Stricklands Cross Roads and runs to pavedroad at Luther Allen Johnsons place, known as the Wilmington- Smithfield road, andbeing a personal property taxes, approval was given to Mr Upchurch toemploy two additional field tax collectors for a period of approximately six weeks,effective immediately, and to employ an extra employee in his office for a periodof approximately four to five weeks1+ Commissioner R G Gurley moved that the bill of Robert C Browning, -ConsultingEngineer, 1918 Hillsboro Street, Raleigh, North Carolina in the amount of 4i xX99000 estimated cost- 40500 for plans and specifications for air conditioningJohnston County Courtroom be paidCommissioner Frank B Holding seconded the motion, which was unanimously adopted5 Mrs Lulu A Jolliff apprised the Board of her plans to attend the SoutheasternRegional neeting of the American Public Welfare Workers on September 9 -12 in RoanokeVirginia, which included accompanying a group from Louisburg to Roanoke and returnCommissioner J D Bailey moved that participation by Lulu A Jolliff with a groupfrom Louisburg to Roanoke and return on a basis of 14 of the mileage cost, beapprovedCommissioner Frank B Holding seconded the motion, which was unanimouslyadopted6 Mrs Lulu A Jolliff, Superintendent Welfare Department, informed the Boardthat she had been able to replace two of her staff members, namely, one young manfrom Mount Airy who would commence work immediately and a young lady from DaytonaBeach, Florida, who would commence work on September 15, 19587• Upon the determination by Commissioner R G Gurley that the Bentonville FireDepartment has qualified for monthly payments from the County in accordance withresolution adopted by the Board at its Home Demonstration Agent, submitted her resign-ation and expressed her appreciation to the Board for the support and cooperationthey had given her during her stay in Johnston CountyOn a motion by Langley, District Home Agent, of Raleigh, N C recommended MrsEarline Martin Walker of Eagle Springs to succeed Miss Rebecca Trammel as Assistant rhome Demonstration Agent in charge of 4-H club work Miss Langley gave a briefhistory of Mrs Walker and stated that she was amply qualified to fill the positionOn a motion made by Commissioner J D Bailey, seconded by Commissioner R GGurley, it was moved
