r^7eeting of Board of Commissioners for the County of JohnstonFebruary 20, 1957The Board of County Commissioners of Johnston County reconvened in specialsession at 11 00 A N, February 20, 1957, in the Commissioners Room, with thefollowing members presentR P Holding, Chairman, J D Bailey, Floyd C Price, R G Gurley, andH M JohnsonAbsent NoneThe following business was transacted1 Representatives of the Smithfield Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and KiwanisClub of Smithfield, Johnston County Mutual Livestock Association, Home DemonstrationClub of Selma, Vocational Agri - cultural Department of Princeton, made brief talksurging the Commissioners to make available funds for the erection of livestockbarn on the property, which the Pou Parrish Post of the American Legion would leaseto the County at a nominal rental Bach cited the need and value to the Countyof such a projectFollowing a discussion, the following resolution prepared by J L George,Countv Attorney and James A Wellons, Jr, Attornev Johnston County Mutual Live-stock Association, was adoptedRESOLUTIONOn a motion made by Floyd C Price, Sr, seconded by H T;4 Johnson, thefollowing resolution was adopted1 That Johnston County obtain a lease from the American Legion for a portionof its land located between Smithfield and Selma, just south of Highway # 301 largeenough and with the privilege of constructing thereon a livestock arena and anyother buildings that may be erected for the promotion and sale of agriculturalproducts and parking facilities;
