Bids RejectedThe County Manager stated the following two bids for aeration equipment for the landfill aerationbasin were received on March 25, 1997 Aqua- Aerobics Systems, Aurora IL, 42,32569; and AerationIndustries International, Inc, Minneapolis, MN, 56,32500 A third bid was received late and was notopened He recommended the Board reject all bids, agree not to rebid the project, and allow the Countyto buy the aeration equipment as neededAs recommended by the County Manager, Commissioner Thomas M Moore moved the Board rejectall bids for aeration equipment for the landfill leachate aeration basin and authorize the purchase ofaeration equipment as needed Commissioner James H Langdon, Jr seconded the motion, which carriedby unanimous vote5 Preliminary Cost for Water Wastewater To Proposed School Site at McGees CrossroadsEngineer Tim Broome presented a preliminary opinion of cost for providing water and wastewaterto the proposed school site at McGees Crossroads He explained a 12 water line could be extendedapproximately 19,000 if along NC 210 from Hopewell Pisgah Water District to the NC 50 intersection,and a 16 main for approximately 3,5001f on NC50 to the proposed site at a probable cost of 650,000Approximately 70 of the cost would be reimbursable from the McGees Crossroads Water Districtproject when that project is fundedConcerning wastewater service, Mr Broome noted an onsite sewer system could be installed at aprobably cost of 280,000 This figure would be doubled if a second school is constructed on theproperty An alternate choice would be to install a wastewater lift station and run approximately 10 milesof 6 force main along NC 210 to the leachate collection basin at the County landfill Cost for thisalternative would be approximately 1,090,000; however this could eventually open up the entire area forsewer service and could be paid for with wastewater feesThe Board agreed to discuss this matter further at their retreat in April6 Tax Exempt Loan - 50 -210 Fire DepartmentUpon a motion by Commissioner Cookie Pope, seconded by Commissioner James W Cash andcarried by unanimous vote, the Board adopted the following resolutionH660 Tax Exempt Loan to Volunteer Fire Department of CommissionersNOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board of Commissioners of JohnstonCounty, North Carolina, does hereby approve a tax -
