Proposed Amendment to Code of Ordinances - Section 1 – General Provisions and Appendix A – Schedule of Fees and Charges The Board scheduled a public hearing to allow for public comment on a proposed ordinance amendment to Section 1 - 6 f 2 General Provisions of the Code of Ordinances at the June 2 , 2008 10 00 am meeting The amendment would allow for the recovery of investigative costs greater than 25000 Further , the amendment would also delete Appendix A – Schedule of Fees and Charges , in that several fees listed are outdated and do not reflect the accurate fee schedules for the various items An accurate fee schedule for each department that charges fees is located in the Clerk to the Board’s office and is available for inspection C Call for Public Hearing – Proposed County Budget meeting to allow for public comment , pursuant to NCGS 160A - 362 , on the Board of County Commissioners appointing a representative for the Town of Benson’s Planning Board for their extended ETJ area question from Commissioner W Ray Woodall , Mr Spivey indicated there is a 75 cost sharing program available with 6 million appropriated for all 100 counties , to assist farmers in providing water supplies for livestock and crops Mr Spivey noted there may be an additional 6 million allocated to the program Regulations associated with the delivery of this program are currently being established and the Soil & Water Conservation Office can provide more information on the program Mr Spivey confirmed that the farmer would be responsible for the remaining 25 cost Chairman Cookie Pope commented Tax Administrator Pat Goddard reported on the collection of delinquent taxes for the month of April 2008 She noted in addition to garnishments and bank attachments , five foreclosure complaints were filed and three demand letters sent , resulting in a collection of 5,25927 As of April 30 , 2008 the Tax Department has collected 9864 of the real and personal levy for 2007 , and 8527 of the motor vehicle levy Through the NC State Debt Setoff Program , 1,196 accounts have been paid for a total of 165,16162 as of April 30 , 2008 The next foreclosure sale is scheduled for May 28 , 2008 Upon a System at Johnston County Agriculture Building Auditorium Commissioner Wade M Stewart expressed concern regarding the sound system at the Johnston County Agricultural Building noting he and others have had difficulties hearing presentations and speakers in the Auditorium At Commissioner Stewart’s request , the County Manager and Johnston County Cooperative Extension Director Bryant Spivey
