How to find if you are registered to Vote, your Voting Status, your Voting Precinct and Location, your Ballots, and the Elections in which you have Voted

What Information is in the Voter Search Portal?

Through the North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE) website, individuals can access a comprehensive dashboard of their personal voting information using the Voter Search tool (often referred to as the "voter lookup"). By entering their first and last name—and optionally narrowing the search by birth year or county—registered voters can view publicly available records concerning their civic participation.

1. Voting Registration and Status

Registration Status: You can verify whether your current registration is active, inactive, removed, or denied.
Party Affiliation: The tool displays your registered political party affiliation.
Registration Details: It confirms the specific county where you are registered to vote.

2. Polling Place and Precinct

Election Day Polling Place: You can find the exact name and address of your assigned polling location for Election Day.
Voting Jurisdictions (Districts): The tool breaks down your specific voting districts, which includes your assigned precinct, municipality, county commissioner district, state house and senate districts, and U.S. congressional district.

3. Sample Ballots

Digital Sample Ballot: Prior to an upcoming election, once ballots are finalized, you can view, download, and practice on an exact digital replica of the ballot you will receive at the polls.
Absentee Ballot Tracking: If you have requested a mail-in absentee ballot, you can view its status and tracking information.

4. Voting History

Past Participation: The tool provides a historical log of all past elections you have participated in (often referred to as "voter history").
Method of Voting: It generally details the method by which you voted in those past elections (e.g., in-person on Election Day, early voting, or by mail).

How to Access the Tool

To access this information, visit the NCSBE website and scroll down to the search bar and type Voter Lookup to view the Voter Lookup Page and click on Launch the Voter Search to view the Voter Search portal. You will only need to input your first and last name to pull up your profile (note that putting in a county and birth year can help narrow down your name.)
