America 250 Fair

Johnston County joined communities across the nation in celebrating America’s 250th birthday this past weekend!

A community fair on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Johnston Community College transported visitors back to the Colonial-era with a living history encampment. 

Fair highlights included:

• Axe throwing and canon firings
• Carriage rides and a puppet show
• Local food vendors and crafts
• Art and photography exhibit

The weekend also featured three performances of the Broadway musical “1776” in the JCC auditorium, bringing the story of America’s founding to life on stage.
