Employee Wellness Expo in October

During the week of Oct. 20-24, Johnston County celebrated its annual Employee Appreciation Week. Employees participated in various activities throughout the week with the goal of promoting engagement and overall wellness.
On Oct. 22, some 250 County employees streamed through the doors of the Great Hall at Johnston Community College for the 2025 Employee Health & Wellness Expo. Employees had the opportunity to meet with the County’s benefit providers and local wellness resources.
Johnston County Cooperative Extension displayed information about 4-H and its annual Fruit and Nut Tree Sale. It also sent attendees home with soil and seeds from Garrett Wildflower Seed Farm. HealthQuest, the hospital-owned fitness center, handed out information about its many offerings. So too did the State Employees’ Credit Union and Civic Credit Union. The Poe Center for Health Education encouraged County employees to drink water instead of sugary sodas and advised them to be mindful of their mental health too.
Johnston County Emergency Services offered employees the opportunity to practice hands-only CPR; in addition, the County’s Wellness Clinic promoted its services for employees. Nearby, the County’s Technology Services Department offered tips for avoiding cyberscams and overall security awareness training. Employees also had the opportunity to receive a professional portrait and show team spirit by posing with props at a neighboring photo booth.
“We are fortunate to be able to celebrate our employees during Employee Appreciation Week,” said Paulette Williams, the County’s director of Human Resources. “Employees loved the activities that were planned and the opportunity to connect with others at the Health and Wellness Expo.”
